What To Do After a Flood
- Remove excess water by mopping and blotting
- Remove and prop up wet upholstery and cushions
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting in order to prevent further water damage
- Remove art objects and relocate them to a safe, dry place
What NOT To Do After a Flood
- Don’t leave items on wet surfaces. Instead, move them to dry spaces or hang them outside to dry
- Don't use your household vacuum to remove water
- Don't use any items that require electricity, including your television or other household appliances
- Don't turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet and if the ceiling is sagging in any rooms, move to a safer area
